|Title||Portable Diagram Icon/Picture File Links|
Media file links can migrate to another PC without getting broken, because relative file paths are allowed.
Diagram Icons selected from the C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Icons folder only save their filenames, so migrate to another PC without becoming broken links.
BUT Diagram Icons selected from anywhere else on the PC, save absolute file paths, that probably will NOT migrate to another PC without becoming broken links, resulting in a File Not Found message.
Note that the Icon file links may be in the Windows Registry for Core Diagrams, or within Standard/Custom Diagram Type (.fhdx) files in the Program Data folder, or within FH Chart (.fhc) files in any Project Chart folder.
A similar problem afflicts any Pictures inserted into a Diagram or used as the Background.
Offer relative file path links for Icons/Pictures in various scenarios. e.g.
(1) Allow sub-folders within the C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Icons folder to be saved as relative file paths. Then an ...\Icons\Custom\ folder could hold custom Icons/Pictures that migrate to another PC.
(2) Similarly, allow sub-folders within the Family Historian Projects location to be saved as relative file paths with similar benefits for Icons/Pictures.
See the WEB LINK posting for further details.
