Custom Report Types are derived from Standard Report Types by using the Report > Save Report As > Custom Report Type command. They are opened via the Publish menu, and behave just like their original Standard Report.
A Custom Report Type preserves the Report > Report Options dialogue settings for future use. It does NOT preserve the selection of included records. To preserve such record sets use Named Lists.
See Downloads and Links ~ Report Types for some predefined Custom Reports.
It is recommended that Standard Report Types retain their Installation Settings and any customisations are always saved in Custom Report Types. Then if any Custom Report is not rendered as expected, the Standard Report can be used to check if the problem is generic or caused by the customisations.
It is not immediately obvious which Standard Report Type a Custom Report Type is derived from, so the following table will help identify them.
