Why am I seeing this?

Post by Valkrider » 09 Jun 2012 10:14

Another one of my newbie questions I am afraid. I have added some more detail to George Lefever and now he is shown twice in the focus page as shown in the attached image.

Any idea's why? Nobody else is shown like this and there are another 1500 records.

Thanks

It would help to know what details you added.

I suspect somehow you have added a second Family Record but with no Wife/Partner.
In his Property Box the [b[Main[/b] tab will have a Spouse tab labelled .
Assuming this is a mistake, then select the All tab, and locate the Spouse family entry with .
Select this entry and press the Delete key to remove it.

Brilliant.

Thanks that solved it. His wife had an illegitimate son and somehow I added him to George, I then deleted the son and attached him to Ellen and it appeared during this process. So a 'nut behind the wheel' error.

It is worth remembering that whenever you add a family member such as a child or a spouse, then a Family Record is needed, which FH creates automatically if necessary.

These Family Records can be inspected in the Records Window on the Families tab.
If this tab is not visible (which is the FH default), then use Tools > Preferences > Records Window tab, and set the Record Type Display Options all to Always show.

The Family Records list the Individual name(s) and the number of Children per family.
If only one Individual is named, and there are no Children, then it is probably a redundant Family Record that can be deleted.
