Standard areas??

Post by goodwin2 » 03 Apr 2012 07:35

I'm about to install FH v.5 but get a message saying:

Standard diagrams, standard text schemes and standard reports will be updated.  If you have made any modifications to standard items such as these, and if you wish to preseve them, you should cancel now and save the standard items as custom items before restarting this installation program.

Would this message be applicable to having added buried and nickname to the property box?  I have a lot of burials that I would hate to lose.  Will await an answer before taking the chance that those items will be missing in the new version.

Also was disappointed to see that in the instruction manual nothing is mentioned re the book possibility feature. That is one of the reasons that I looked forward to v.5.

Incidentally, my v.5 arrived today - same time as ancestry got out the U.S. 1940 census.  In the minute number of images available in this new census, I did manage to find 3 families.  Hooray!

Hoping for a REALLY quick answer!

Thanks[smile]

Books : Chapter 18 of the Getting the Most

I think your customisations to the Property box will stay, the install won't make any changes to your data, it's just telling if you have customised the items listed you need to save them as custom versions. It does not touch your data.
