Now I have installed V5 on my laptop and on my standalone.
I enter all my data on my standalone.
Then to save double entering can I import the saved Project file onto the Laptop?
If so what happens when this happens for the 2nd 3rd time etc. Surely the Project file name will be the same. Will the laptop warn me that this project file already exists? and will it give me the option to overwrite the previous one. If not can I save the project again with a new name on standalone and then do a Project backup and install on laptop??
I am not sure how this works ??
Thanks
John

There are a number of popular solutions.
One that is widely and successfully used by FHUG members is to synchronise your Family Historian Projects folder across the two PC using a free utility such as Dropbox.
Other synchronisation utilities are available.
Once set up, any Project changes you make on one PC are immediately transferred to the other PC via the Internet.
If either PC is not connected, the transfer takes place as soon as they are reconnected.
FH V5 now offers a Full Project Backup option in addition to the GEDCOM Backup that has always existed.
Use this on one PC, transfer the ZIP file to the other PC, and then use the Full Project Restore option.
If you need further advice on either of these then post back here.

Thanks I tried Dropbox and had problems.
I have various backup facilities
Memory sticks
Additional Hard Drive.
I know I can do a FULL Project backup on standalone thru V5
The situation is then to RESTORE this Project Backup on Laptop.
Will it say (if I do this every few days after more entering) this already exists as the Project name is the SAME although the date of Backup is different. This would force me to make a copy of the project on the standalone and rename it!!and then FULL backup etc. Or will it make a new project on the Laptop with same name and different date??
Thanks

You seem to be making very hard work of a fairly simple job.
Just copy the whole folder to you usb key or what ever you use to move files and then delete the file on the laptop and copy over the one from the key (the reason I suggest deleting it first is in case you delete files from the master copy).

Jane is correct about simply using Windows Explorer.
First on the standalone PC to copy the whole Project Folder to any backup media.
Then on the laptop to first delete the Project Folder, and then copy from backup media to Project Folder.
If you are familiar with using Send to > Compressed (zippped) Folder then you can use almost exactly the same method but with a ZIP file.
FH lets you do the same thing using its features.
Use File > Backup/Restore > Full Backup on the standalone PC onto a backup media.
On the laptop PC use File > Project Window > More Tasks > Delete Project.
Then use File > Backup/Restore > Restore Backup from the backup media.

Thank you Jane & Tatewise for bearing with me.
The last 3 lines of Tatewise in the end so so simple thanks a great deal. I had not thought of deletion.
A wonderful service as usual.
