upgrading from v2.3

Post by bjpayne » 28 Mar 2012 09:44

It is some time since I entered all my information into v2.3 and have done little since. I have some new information I would like to enter and would like to upgrade to v5, but... will I be able to copy the information from v2.3 (which is on an XP computer) and enter it onto v5 on my new Windows7 computer? Grateful for any help and/or clarification.

The information can be moved no problem at all. Simply open the gedcom created witn v2 in v5 and away you go!

As to the other settings, this excelent guide might help:

When it comes to moving from your old XP PC to a new Win 7 PC I advise using Windows Easy Transfer.

If you have already passed that point then, the How to Move Settings referred to above will help you out.
This is part of a general FH Installation Guide.
