Gedcom Census v3 - Testers needed

Post by nsw » 02 Sep 2004 18:43

I've finally got round to updating Gedcom Census[sup]*[/sup] to add some new features which have been asked for and to fix an error in the previous version. I wonder if any of you who use Gedcom Census would be happy to help me to test the next version before I release it.

Some of the new features are:
  • the ability to deal with USA, Canada and Ireland as well as the usual UK Census
  • No longer a limit on the number of people in a census entry
  • Will create a calculated date of birth based on the age in the census of any individuals who don't have a birth event recorded
Please reply to this post if you would like to help, have time to do so and are a fairly confident user of a PC I'll be in touch with those of you who want to help via email in a few days time.

Thanks

Nick

I'd be willing to help. I don't have a huge no of census records to input, but I have found Gedcom Census very helpful; I worked in IT for 30 years before becoming a minister, so have some experience of beta testing.

Cheers

Since I posted this I've had a couple of issues pointed out by Jane that I want to try to address. Real life is getting in the way at the moment, but I hope to find time to make the improvements in a couple of weeks and then I'll be in touch.

Thanks for offering to help

Nick,

I am very happy to see the limit of eleven souls lifted so count me in when you have time.

Many thanks,

Phil.

If I am not too late, may I also be added to your group of v3 beta testers. I have found v2 to be really helpful, and I satisfy your tester requirements

Thanks

Thanks for the offer - I hope to release the new version sometime in the next week, assuming that, following suggestions from the beta testers, I can ever stop tinkering and adding new features! [smile]
