* Saving Queries

Please can anyone tell me where the custom queries are saved to, I am wanting to back them up on another computer but can only find the standard queries.

An alternative is to use File > Import/Export > Export > Query and choose the Query to export.
You can choose where to save it, and good place is an Exports folder created in the Public folder.
The only snag is you have to do them one by one, which is a bit tedious if you have a lot.

The same technique works for other custom definitions such as Custom Diagrams, Text Schemes, Custom Reports, and Facts Sets.

If , Like me, you run FH on different computers at different times of day depending on where you are. I found Microsoft synctoy to synchronise my files, I set one folder pair as the Project folder, with the other as the project folder on a pen drive (or another computer on the same network) and create another folder pair for the calico pie application data folder (place depends on operating system.
Syncotoy once run the fist time then only copies across files that have actually changed since last run. Very useful

Does anyone have any views of Dropbox compared with Synctoy.

Just wondered as I'm thinking of using Dropbox, which seems to be the favourite around here.

I don't think SyncToy provides cloud storage, or revision caching both of which come with Dropbox, it just keeps folders for 2 PCs in sync on the same network.

So for example I have '1' copy of my gedcom file which I can view on my two PCs and my phone. I can change it on either PC and it automatically syncs to the other one when it's turned on, or pretty well instantly if they are both on.

You are correct SyncToy does not provide 'cloud' storage.
Also SyncToy is run at specific times, either manually, or at scheduled times.
Whereas DropBox is running all the time, and automatically updates all files soon after they are changed.

Furthermore, there have been some issues with DropBox recently, and alternatives such as SpiderOak have been promoted as better.
