Fact Query

Post by oldtimer47 » 18 Dec 2010 13:04

I'm probably missing something obvious but I can't seem to get a simple Fact Query to work.

I have an event for Probate information and I want to list all people who have such information.

If I create a fact query with no row filters and run it I see all the facts including my Probate facts. What I can't seem to do is use the  %Fact%  or  =FactValue%Fact%  to restrict the list to just Probate facts.

%Fact% appears in the expression drop down but I can't then select an operator or value. =FactValue%Fact% doesn't even appear in the expression drop down.

I look forward to finding out what I am doing wrong !

Thanks, Peter

Fact Query

You should be doing something like.

Code: Select all

=FactLabel(%FACT%)
Matches
Probate
It won't do a drop down for the Fact as you are selecting them by label.

Alternately just do an individual query and select them where

Code: Select all

Exclude if
%INDI.PROB[1]%
is null

Fact Query

Post by oldtimer47 » 18 Dec 2010 16:00

Hi Jane

Thanks for that

I have modified your suggestion slightly to give a very useful general fact query

Condition  Add If
Expression  =FactLabel(%FACT%)
Operator   begins with
Then I have ticked the Paramater Box and used a label of 'Event Type'

When it runs it asks me what Event Type I want and I only have to enter the starting few characters so I can easily find my Probate Entries or any other event of interest

Thanks again [smile]
