Missing census report

Post by AlanParry » 29 Nov 2010 16:04

I use Gedcom census to enter census data into my tree. Is there a way of writing a report/query that can compare a persons birth/death dates to entered census data for that person to highlight where I have yet to find a census entry.

For example if someone live between 1830 and 1905 and I'd already entered census details for 1851, 1861 and 1881, I'd like a report to tell me that 1841, 1871, 1891 amd 1901 were missing.

Thanks.

Have a look at the query downloads on this site. 'Census-The Missing Years-1911' should do the trick.

Hi Alan

Just to let you know, in case you missed it, that Ancestral Sources has replaced Gedcom Census. It improves on Gedcom Census in a number of ways and I'd urge you to upgrade. Its free (but donations gratefully received!) just like Gedcom Census.

Best wishes

Nick

If you are using Family Historian V4 then there are also the Kinsfolk Census Queries at:

Thanks, how do I run these queries, I've copied then to the queries directory (with all the standard ones) but they don't appear in FH4 View/ Standard or Custom queries?

Thanks again

First of all have you unzipped the Kinsfolk_Census_Queries.zip downloaded file?
Right-click on this .zip file and use Extract All or use WinZip or 7-Zip to unzip and extract both files:
Kinsfolk Census Done Report.fhq
Kinsfolk Census To Do Table.fhq

Rather copy these two .fhq files to the Queries folder, you should Import them to Family Historian.
Either simply double-click them, or use Family Historian > File > Import/Export > Import > Query > and select the file to import.

You could copy these two .fhq files to the Queries folder, but not the C:Program FilesFamily HistorianQueries folder.
On Windows 7 or Vista use the C:ProgramDataCalico PieFamily HistorianQueriesCustom folder.
On Windows 2000 or XP use the C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataCalico PieFamily HistorianQueriesCustom folder.
See the following Knowledge Base page for more details:
