Nicknames, etc

Post by rodit » 16 Jul 2010 05:22

I have some people in various trees who were known by names other than their christened ones. eg 'Molly' for 'Mary'.

I have put these names into the Alternate Name box, and this shows up on the Diagram Box as a.k.a.

It does not, however, show up in the Focuw Window name box. Am I overlooking something, or is this just how it is?

Regards

Roger

I don't think you can customise that at the moment.

You could add the nickname or given name used to the Property Box main tab though.

I just fudge the issue by putting the nickname in brackets after the given names. For instance my paternal grandmother is named as Margaret Gillespie (Peggy) Espie and one of my wife's relatives rather splendidly as Albert George (Whiskers) Cambers.

Not perfect, but it works for me.

I do it too, and it's fine.
