I think I may have had this problem before but I'm baffled as to what to do.
On my tree I've a husband with two wives and it turns out that the first wife is the mother of the children, not the second. I unlinked the children from the second wife and assigned them to be the offspring of the first wife. I deleted the second wife (whom apparently is incorrect altogether) but the empty box for her remains in the diagram. The original husband is shown as having his current wife in the Property Box (correct) and the record/box that I can't get rid of is being shown as rather than an empty tab. Any ideas anyone?
Regards, Martin.

Deleting empty boxes
I seem to remember having a similar problem myself.
I think I ended up just 'hiding' the empty box on the diagram as I couldn't find any other way of getting rid of it.
(Right click on the empty box and select 'Hide' - apologies if you knew this, but others maybe don't.)
I will be interested to see if there is another way.
Regards,
maggie

Have you also deleted the 'family' record for the incorrect 2nd marriage?

Deleting empty boxes
Through trial and error, I worked out how to do it myself. I selected the All tab in the Property Box and selected the section and clicked on Clear Link and now the box is gone. In the meantime after my tree 'clean-up', another empty box had reared its ugly head and I disposed of that one also. Hopefully I'll remember what to do next time. Having said that, I only need to return to this thread to find the answer!

Deleting empty boxes
Thanks incidentally to Maggie and Brian for their suggestions...

I had the same problem, and found that if I clicked on the '+' sign in a square on the extreme left of the list of people, I could then highlight the phantom spouse and use the delete key to remove it.
On second sight this looks almost identical to Martin's solution, except he did his through the property box.
