Project file location problem

Post by moscow » 28 Aug 2009 12:41

Just getting used to V4 and am having problems organising the projects as I wish. On V3, I had the gedcoms within my user account as a master Family History folder, with sub folders for each family line, including both the gedcoms and related work/excel etc documents. I would like to keep the same structure, but am struggling.when I 'choose location for project', it then says it can't find them (ie. it hasn't moved the files only the search path)and when I tried to move the project files to the desired location manually by dragging I got in a right mess. I need to move the projects out of Documents and into my family history folder. Can you help?

Copy the whole Family Historian Projects Folder to your desired location in Windows Explorer, then change where FH looks for them.

The delete the old location.  What I suggest you do for the additional information is to create folders with in the Family Historian Project Folder to contain it.  Eg

Family Historian Projects
-- Mullins Family
---- Mullins Family.fh_Data
---- Related Documents
---- Public
-- Bowditch Family
---- Bowditch Family.fh_Data
---- Related Documents
---- Public
---- Mullins Related Documents
