Having bit the bullet and purchased the upgrade to V4 since an email to support at calico pie about the trial ver not working as a trial has gone unanswered...that of course has made a great impression and endears me to the company's commitment to its customers...
My worst fears of bugs after so long a delay in issuing the upgrade are realised.
After successful upgrade and registration I made a new project for my existing gedcom file from V3 and when the project opened the root person was ID 6590 of 7066!!! The correct root person is ID 1.
NB due to the slow performance of having relationships to root person initiated in V3 i did not enable this feature and also have no need for it in V4 as with such a large db it has no value to me.
If calculated relationships are fixed in V4 how can I correct the root person to the correct ID 1 ???

Please remember Calico are a small company and with so many questions on V4 they will take a while to answer, they do answer just give them time, some other tools I know of don't come back at all unless you pay for a contract.
Just select the person you want and from the edit menu select set as file root, or from the focus window right click on the person and set as file root.
