Hi Everyone,
I can't seem to figure out how to open the tutorials from the help menu. I walked through the 'You don't have Adobe Acrobat 5.0 installed' bit. (I now have it & 2 more recent versions of Adobe reader installed, which is an excess I don't need.) But I cannot seem to get past that point. When I click on Tutorials in the Help menu, the prompt says, 'the application of FH currently open will close and the Tutorial file will open in its place'. Well, nothing happens. What am I not understanding here? Thanks, alywil

Trouble accessing the Tutorial files?
I've just tried it with having an FH file already open and it seemed to work fine - warning about closing the open file and when OK'd closed that and opened the Tutorial example file.
When you say nothing happened, do you mean it didn't load the example file? The Tutorial Files item on the Help menu only loads the example file of names into FH for you to work with while reading the relevant manual chapter - it is not a walk you through tutorial and ought not to use Adobe reader. It just gives you the demo family structure to 'play' with.
Hope this helps.

Trouble accessing the Tutorial files?
Sorry for not responding sooner. I wandered away for a bit. In fact, I couldn't solve this problem so in frustration gave up on it. I tried opening the Getting the Most... Tutorial again with the same result. If I have the trial tree opened or closed, when I try to open the Manual, I get 'Unable to open manual, do you have Adobe Reader installed? go to Readme...' I have stepped through that about 3 times now, installed 5.0 on top of the 2 versions of Adobe already installed. Then get the same message. I think I will give up on the manual, sadly.I really felt I would like to study more & get more adept with using all the features of FH. alywil

Trouble accessing the Tutorial files?
It sounds like your default 'pdf' reader is confused.
You can alway open the manual from the CD directly or from

Trouble accessing the Tutorial files?
It worked perfect going at it through the Program Files. Thanks for explaining how to do that. [grin]alywil
