All ancestors-one page print?

Hi all

I got the program yesterday and now have my all ancestor diagram on one page.
However the boxes are so small and unreadable. I have used another basic program called Family Tree by GSP and didn't like it because it wont do all ancestor diagrams BUT it did print off the ascendancy on one page with decent size boxes and text (and this was with almost as many names as all ancestors and certainly as many rows). I therefore feel that this program should do a similar thing and have played with all the sizing boxes in the diagram pop up window to no avail.

Could anyone please give me instructions and setting levels to get a decent box and text size so all my ancestors on one page can be read?

Surely this has got to depend on how many ancestors you have?

Ive gone back 15 generations on a number of lines in our family history. There is no way that all that information can go on one sheet and be legible.

Every generation you go back you are doubling the number of ancestors so obce you get beyond 5 generatios you are going to need 32 boxes on one line.

As I mentioned my cheap under £10 program can cope with it and do a good legible job on all but a few of the ancestor chart (because of its lack of all ancestor settings).

This program IMO should be able to have larger boxes and larger text within them maybe at the expense of the spaces between the generations and the length of adjoining lines.

If a cheap program can do it then the Rolls Royce of them must be able to do better than this I hope.

Don't get me wrong I like evrything else about the program but the main reason I bought it was for the all ancestor diagram.

I also have Family Tree by GSP and I did an ancestry chart for my tree and it stretched over 8 sheets (portrait).I also tried it on one page and it was too small to see.I think with any diagram it will depend on how many ancestors etc you have and how much information you want in each box.I still think FH is the best for some types of diagrams and am waiting to see what the new version will do.I only now keep Family Tree by GSP to print off small but colourful trees to send to relatives.Saying that I still tend to use FH the most.[smile][smile]

Try setting the page to landscape and also select one of the short text schemes which reduces the depth of the boxes. My own personal preference for condensed ancestor information is the Ancestor Outline report.

V3 will add horizontal trees which for simple ancestor trees tend to take much less space.
