I always create a hard disk backup on exiting FH but would like to create a DVD backup in case of disk failure. Currently I copy the FH and another local folder of mine (contains images) to DVD at present. When using AS I always copy images to the FH media folders (may be over kill).
What folder should I write out to DVD to enable a full recovery in the case of disk failure e.g. includes gedcomm, images?
Many thanks.

Since you appear to be using FH V4 Projects then you should be able to use File > Project Window > More Tasks > Copy Project.
In the Copy Project popup window use the Browse button to select your DVD drive, and continue through the writing to DVD process.
See the Knowledge Base at Move Family Historian Settings for advice on where this folder is located and other settings you may need to backup.
It is written as if you are backing up ready to move from one PC to another PC, but the principles are the same.

In addition to the Family Historian Projects folders, you also need to backup the Program Data folder Calico Pie, which contains (almost) all your Customised Diagrams, Reports, Queries, Property Box Tabs, Fact Sets, etc, etc. What folder should I write out to DVD to enable a full recovery in the case of disk failure

This isn't over kill. It is recommended that all the media used in your project is stored in the media folder of your project file which is why Ancestral Sourcss is asking if you want to copy the images into there. I assume all your media is in there, not just the Ancestral Sources images? Use the Family Historian 'Work with External File Links' (in the Tools menu) to check that all your media is indeed in your project folder.jbrooks said:

I have omitted copying 1 file to the media/census folder and 4 others are in media not media/census. In the record view I can select properties for each file. I was thinking of changing the path under properties and copying the file using windows explorer. Is there a better approach?

That is exactly the way to do it.
I suggest moving the files first using Windows Explorer.
Then in the Multimedia Record Window use the [...] browse button on the Linked File field to select the new file locations.
Make sure the paths start with Media... rather than C:Users....
Finally, use Tools > With with External File Links and make sure all sit below Project Data Folder - Media with no mention of C:Users....
If necessary repeat the process with any offending links, or any with a big X.
