FH V3 stopped working with Windows 7

Post by bennehe » 04 Dec 2010 21:29

I have just upgraded my laptop from Vista to Windows 7 and FH v3.1 has stopped working. I have tried reinstalling FH using V2.1.6 CD (which appeared to work OK) and then upgrade to V3.0 CD. I just keep getting a message saying 'Family Historian has stopped working'. Any ideas?

I've no personal experience of this problem (I'm still, happily, using XP) but I wonder if this thread might be relevant:

What firewall are you using, if it's commdo uninstall it.

Any problems with FH are normally caused by other programs such as antivirus or antimalware programs blocking the licensing routine from unpacking the program.

Thanks for replies. I've managed to fix it by disabling Data Execution Prevention for FH (as per FAQ #1013 on FH website).
