Drop down choice in Source entry

Post by RalfofAmber » 17 Oct 2007 13:00

When I enter a new source, I try to set the Type.

The new source form is a free text box where as the edit source from the source list gives a button to allow a pick list. A drop down list of all established choices would be very handy here (and no doubt other places)

Drop down choice in Source entry

I agree, I tend to create a new source then go back and put the source type in (clicking on the ... to get the list of options), as it is awkward when creating a new source from within the Individual record

Drop down choice in Source entry

The problem is due to a small bug in FH. When you create a new source in the record window and use the context menu to add the type to the source record FH uses auto-complete so you only need the first character or two. The same happens if you create a source in the property dialog via the Insert->Source menu option. However if you use the New button when the 'Select source' window is displayed FH does NOT use auto-complete. Nor does this window have the '...' button to allow selection from previously entered types. A small inconsistency but awkward to the user and something that should have been spotted during testing.
