Parents not showing on Family Tree??
Hello
Can anyone help? I have put together a pretty large family tree now and when I try to view the whole thing (I want to try to print it off), everyone appears on the diagram except one person's parents? They are in the database but no 'expansion' button is shown that I can click to reveal their parents.
To view the diagram, I click on myself in the list view and then go to View > Standard Diagrams > Everyone.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mark

Parents not showing on Family Tree??
If you are using the everyone diagram they are probably some where else on the diagram as well, try following the ribbon or try using the Find in diagram option to search for them.

Parents not showing on Family Tree??
Hello
Still having problems with this. I was wrong in my original post...I am using the 'All Relatives' diagram. I am not keen on the 'Everyone' diagram as personally I find it to be a bit all over the place and hard to follow.
The parents not appearing on the diagram are my Great Great Grandfather's In Laws. He was married twice and the second marriage's In Laws are all appearing fine so I can't understand why the first set are not. Any ideas?
Or is there a way to select individuals to add to a diagram? I'm not sure whether the custom diagram option could be the way to go but I can't work out how to create one as that option is just frosted out!
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Parents not showing on Family Tree??
I would guess you are descended from the second marriage? Therefore you are not related (by blood) to the in-laws of the first marriage.
If you really want them on there simply add and ancestor tree for the wife.

Parents not showing on Family Tree??
Thanks for your help.
I've found that option in the diagram menu - I take it that's what you mean?
It seemed a shame for only 2 people to be missing off my family tree so that's why I wanted them on there.
Mind you saying that - I've since found she had a sister so doing an ancestry tree now misses the sister off!

Well just add a ancestor/descendant diagram instead.Mind you saying that - I've since found she had a sister so doing an ancestry tree now misses the sister off!

It's not as simple as that. I already tried that and if you do an Ancestor and Descendant chart, it ends up adding back in other descendants that are already on the diagram.
I tried deleting them individually but it won't let you...it just deletes the whole thing.
Can I not create a custom diagram to show what I want? I can't find much info on custom diagrams in the help section and it's just frosted out on the drop down.

I think you should find if you base the ancestor and descendants on the wife, you should have a 'closing' circle on the descendants so you can turn them off. Alternately try using Hide (on the diagram menu) rather than delete.
Please ensure you are using 3.1.2 as I seem to remember some enhancements in that area when Calico released 3.1.1

Good stuff. That seems to have cracked it. I didn't know about the hide option so that's helped.
Thanks.
Thanks.
