I have been using these links in V3:
url (http://etc rather than to an html file saved as multimedia) and
mailto (mailto:name@wherever for email from within FH)
No great issue but these no longer work with V4. It looks as if the multimedia organisation has been tidied and excludes anything other than links to actual files. Can anyone comment?
Thanks David

I think the V4 web generation does automatically convert web links in notes to 'live' links does that help?
You could consider putting the links in notes?

Jane - Thanks for the reply.
I was using these links to open web pages and write new emails from within FH rather than generating a website. The hyphenated mailto was an error which appeared when it was posted to the forum. It should be mailto:anyone@anywhere, if a reader tries to use this feature. Looks like no more active shortcuts of this type from within V4.

Jane,
The forum post recognizes and adjusts the mailto. It should be 'mailto' followed by a ':', 'no space' and then the email address. Hopefully that makes sense!
Thanks David

Very clever. As you say I think what you were doing has been locked down in the re-work of the media in V4.
One thought might be to do an autohotkey type script to allow something similar, which would also work in any program, not just FH.
I am a bit overloaded today, but will give it a try in a day or so.

Jane,
mailto can be substituted by a contact and the properties card will load for that person within FH V4 i.e. FH recognises Contact Manager as a helper application. This would be best as an external link. The active link on the card then opens an empty addressed email. Long winded when compared with the V3 linking but useful for email sources!
Nothing as simple for url linking.

V4 - URL Links
Jane,
The quick 'n dirty fix for url and mailto links in V4 is to substitute with a contact link in the Contact Manager. This allows emails to be written and websites opened from within FH (using multimedia links) although requiring additional steps when compared with FH V3. Unless someone can suggest a simpler alternative?
