I' done it all wrong - or have I?
I have had FH for nearly a year now, but for the last 5/6 moths have been very ill and have done no work on it. Coming back to is is a nightmare for me.
With the help of others I have created and entered about 700 individuals but it is now unwealdy and difficult to simply follow.
Questions:
Is there an easy way to cut and past sections into new files, and is this the right course of action?
There is no way for me to see which entries have been verified with birth certs etc. It would be a long job, but is it possible to make the background a particular colour if it is verified? [cry]

What problem are you having, my file is over 3000 people and I can work with out problems.
You can always use the split tree helper if you want to split it, but it might be easier to post in more detail what you are having problems with.
You can use Flags and Icons on diagrams and on the records window screen, or you can use flags to change backgrounds.
Don't forget to watch the Flags and Icons How to.

I started researching my family tree in late January 08 but I have only just started to use the FH software and I find it confusing.
Because I started with my Father as the 'root person' then my Mum. After that I typed in first, my maternal grandparents then the paternal ones.
Also the next move for me was to put them in the wrong generations on the 'tree' diagram.
How can I rectify this?? Or do I have to delete what I've done so far and start over?
Thanks[confused]

I am not sure what you mean, the person you select when you create the diagram is the root only for the time you are on that diagram, so if you add yourself to the tree select your box and click the diagram button again it will centre the diagram on you and show the relationships for that person.

Thanks and I tried to explain that as I'd said that the first person (root) was my Dad, then Mum. Then grandparents only they have gone below my parents generation rather than above as I'd seen the trees should be.
Can I drag and drop the boxes to sort it out??

You can't drag and drop, but you could unlink the people who are wrong using the all tab and then add existing people back in the right places.
There is a how to for relinking in the knowledge base.

Thanks and I will try that one over the weekend. It is nice to keep on learning to find out how to sort my (many) mistakes.
