Hello
I do hope that I am not being a pain,but I am now back to Census Returns and am trying to use Gedcom Census 5.1 which is supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread.
After filling in the form with details from the 1901 census, in accordance with the 'getting started with Gedcom Census' I do not see any alteration to the Records or Individual Records window. What else do I have to do?

Did you save the census entry then reload your gedcom file through FH. If you have both open at the same time it will tell you that changes have been made and ask if you want to reload the file, say Yes to see the changes. Also are you looking in Events as that is where the census data appears.

I wouldn't describe Gedcom Census as 'the best thing since sliced bread', it just helps you to type in census returns that's all [smile]
Presumably in Gedcom Census you selected a few people from the list, typing in their ages and occupations, etc. So in Family Historian if you look at the properties for any of these people and under the 'events' tab you should see a census event and (if applicable) an occupation. These will probably all be linked back to a source (assuming you are using the Gedcom Census default options).
If you look at the main Family Historian records window, under the Sources tab, you should see a source for the census record you created.
If they are definitely not there then I would guess that you are editing a different file in Gedcom Census than the one you are using in Family Historian. You can confirm the file you are using in Family Historian by looking at 'File Statistics' under the File menu. Open up Gedcom Census and choose 'File/Open another...' and navigate through to the file mentioned in File Statistics.

Nick, I most certainly did not mean anything sarcastic about the 'bread', it was just a stupid saying that I have made and hope that it does not cause any offence.
I have done exactly as you suggest and indeed have the comments under 'sources'.
The entry reads Census 1901 Camberwell London. RG13/498, 1(record ID), Census (type), 9 (citations), 09/07/2006 12.52 (updated)
If I wanted to see what was on 1 (record ID),or see all the 9 (citations), what do I do please?

No offence taken, I was just trying to make light of praise that I'm not sure GC can live up to!
Every source has an ID when it is created and so the next source you create will have ID 2, then ID 3, etc. Just right-click on the source and click on properties to see what is recorded within it.
Select the source, click on the View menu and select Record Links to see all of the people with events that link to this source.
By the way, if you're not seeing the yellow citation section shown on the right of the screen-shot in my earlier answer then click on the little button with a yellow scroll on it, just next to the Tabs in the properties dialogue. To have this citation area displayed all the time, choose Tools->Preferences->Property Dialog and then select Full for each of the default sizes.

Good morning Nick, thank you for all the answers. May I please ask one more; when I want to make any entries, I always have to go back to the download file in 'my documents' and then follow all the instruction through to 'install'. Is there a quicker way of doing this as I can see myself spending a lot of time with your wonderful program
