Gedcom Census 6.0.6 Save problem

Post by mezentia » 22 Mar 2008 17:42

Every time I try to do a Save with Gedcom Census V6 I get an error: Runtime Error 6, Overflow. The only button to press is OK, which then causes the program to quit.

I've un-installed and re-installed the program a couple of times but the error persists. I've since re-installed V5.4 which continues to work without any problems.

What could be the problem?

Regards

David

You'll need Nick for this, but he will probably need to know what OS are you running and whether you are in administrator mode?

Gedcom Census 6.0.6 Save problem

Post by NickWalker » 23 Mar 2008 12:27

Just to follow this up, David kindly sent me a copy of his file. The problem occurred because he had very large record identifiers for his multimedia records. This is easily fixed in Gedcom Census but until the next release, I would suggest anyone having the same problem should do the following:

1) Load the file into Family Historian 2) Click on the Tools menu->Work with Record Identifiers...
3) Read the warning at the top of the dialogue window that appears.
4) Then choose multimedia from the 'Record Type' list, make sure the top item ('Generate new record ids by renumbering records, starting from 1') is selected then click 'Perform Task...'.
5) Once this is done and the file saved Gedcom Census 6 should work OK.
