AS 2.0.0 64-bit won't install
I'm having a problem.
I just got a new computer and I'm trying to install AS 64-bit version 2.0.0 and I'm having problems.
I downloaded the install file to my computer and clicked on it and it comes up with a warning that the publisher can't be verified. I click on Run and then nothing happens after that.
I checked in Process Explorer and I can see that the process AncestralSources64-bit_2_0_0.exe is running, but it isn't using any CPU and is not doing any I/O.
My new computer is running Windows 7 64-bit.
Any ideas what might be the problem?
Thanks,
Bill

Try right-click the AncestralSources64bit_2_0_0.exe file, choose Properties and click the Unblock button followed by the OK button.
Ensure you are logged in as a Windows Administrator.
It may need to install the Microsoft .Net 2 framework, so ensure your PC is online.

I'm fairly certain that Windows 7 includes .Net 2.0 anyway so no need to install it.
Good to see that the unblock worked.
Cheers

AS 2.0.0 64-bit won't install
Now I am having another problem, or I am just confused (which wouldn't be the first time).
After installing AS 2.0.0, I restored my options from a file I created on my old computer.
Then I went to open my project file and there is no Open FH Project... option under File.
The only option I'm given is Open GEDCOM File....
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Bill

It is probably that the the old Options file has the Family Historian Projects path from your old PC, which is likely to be different on your new PC.
Either use the Open FH Project toolbar button just above the File menu, or use the File > Open GEDCOM File menubar option, and browse to any Project .ged file and Open it.
That should reset AS to refer to your new PC set-up.

AS 2.0.0 64-bit won't install
I am a little confused by Windows 7. It looks like what was Documents under Vista is now My Documents again? At least that is what it shows if I go to Windows explorer, select the C: drive, and drill down to the folder than contains my project.
However, if I look under the new Libraries option in Windows Explorer, it says Documents not My Documents.
Interestingly, in the AS options if I go to the place to enter the file names for settings, log, etc, it shows Documents rather than My Documents. Probably because that is what I restored. However, if I select Browse and drill down to the folders and select them, it still shows Documents in the settings.
All very confusing. I can see it is going to take me awhile to get used to Windows 7.
In any case, I don't have an Open FH Project button in the Toolbar, only one that says Open GEDCOM File .
So... I used that and opened the GEDCOM. Then I used the option to set the current project to be the default (interesting that this said project, not GEDCOM).
Now when I start AS, it does open the right GEDCOM, but I still don't have an option under File called Open FH Project... nor a button in the toolbar to do the same thing.
In the title of the window it does say:
Ancestral Sources v2.0.0: Project: Henshaw Family
This is the right FH project so I think FH is opening the entire project, not just the GEDCOM.
Not sure if things are OK at this point or not. Shouldn't I have the option and button to open a project?
Thanks,
Bill

AS 2.0.0 64-bit won't install
After a bit more experimenting, I don't think my last suggestion is the answer.
It appears that AS gets its default Family Historian Project folder from the Registry setting for the Family Historian program Project Window > Location: setting.
Note that this is NOT the Family Historian 5.0 Beta program.
So the question is: Have you installed Family Historian V4.1.3 on your new PC?

No... I've only installed the 5.0 beta.
Looks like you and I were both writing posts at the same time so you might miss my last post.

OK, that is the problem - no FH installed (FH Beta is not recognised by AS).
Yes, our postings overlapped.
Windows 7 does appear to use Documents and My Documents interchangeably.
It is to do with Libraries that are new with Windows 7.
The Documents Library includes My Documents and Public Documents Locations, but the underlying paths have a Documents folder.
Similarly for Music Library, My Music and Public Music Locations, and Music Folder.

Thanks for the explanation on Windows 7 and Documents. I don't know why Microsoft has to always make things so confusing. Don't get me wrong... I like Windows. And I like Microsoft and live only about 5 miles from their headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
OK... so I guess I have to install FH 4.1.3 on my new computer also.
Do you know if that will fix the option and toolbar problem?
Or, do I need to uninstall AS, install FH 4.1.3, and then re-install AS?
Thanks,
Bill

Libraries are quite a neat Windows 7 feature, but not for this thread!
I think you will have to install FH V4.1.3 on the new PC sooner or later, otherwise you will not be able to Upgrade to the FH V5.0.0 formal release, unless you buy a Full licence.
I suspect AS will sort itself out after FH V4.1.3 is installed, because the Registry entry AS is looking for will then exist.

I installed FH 4.1.3 on my new computer and that did take care of the problem. The option and toolbar button are now as expected.
Thanks for all your help again!
