Where within the source not showing
I have entered a baptism record using AS but when I look at the facts tab there is no place within the source showing although I have checked that it is recorded. What have I missed, please?

I presume by 'place' that you refer to the Place field on the Main Info tab of AS, and you entered a Baptism place-name in that field.
In FH the Baptism Fact should have that Baptism place-name in its Place field.
Can you confirm that?
I presume by 'source' that you refer to the Source Citation linked to the Baptism Fact, and that you are using the AS default Method 1.
Did you use the Auto text button near the bottom of AS before using Save File?
If so, which template option did you choose:
18th Century Baptisms, or Rose's Act Eng Wales 1812-, or Generic Baptism?
This should result in descriptive text, including the Baptism place-name, being added to the Text From Source field of the Source Record.
You must click the yellow triangular button in the Property Box Source Pane to open this Record.

The title of your message says Where within the source not showing. Does this imply that you are finding the 'Where within source' field in the source citation is blank and expecting it to include the place name?
Firstly the where within source doesn't have to be filled in and usually isn't when using 'method 1' where you have a single source for each baptism record.
However, some users do choose to record information in this field. The 'where within source' isn't meant to be used to record a place. Rather it is used to record a reference to where in the source the particular source should be recorded. E.g. the page of the register, etc. For a census this is usually the census reference number. For a baptism there often isn't an obvious reference number. Assuming you are using recording method 1, if you do want to record data in 'where within source' you can enter in the 'Ref ID' field on the 'Further Info' tab in Ancestral Sources. You would also need to make sure that under Tools->Options->Baptism settings - method 1, you have ticked Record baptism reference... in citation 'where in source' field.

Firstly , may I thank you both of you for such speedy replies.
Secondly may I apologise for being woolly headed in my question. It relates solely to the 'where within the source' and I want to show the citation reference which one gets when using the Scottish Old Parochial Registers and that question has been answered.
Thirdly I have another question
Can I add 'Text from Source' in AS method 1 or must I add it later. The OPRs often have additional info e.g. 'son of the late...' or 'being now married' which I want to include.

I'm glad we were able to answer your question.
For the source text you have a few options. You can use the Auto button to have Ancestral Sources attempt to produce a transcription for you. Almost certainly this won't match exactly what is in the source document so you can edit it later.
You might decide not to bother at all with the 'Auto' button and just type in your own transcription.
You'll notice there are 3 'Auto-text templates' that you can choose from (18th Century, Generic, Rose's) but there are also facilities to create your own templates (Tools->Autotext Templates) though admittedly these can get a bit complicated if you want to make use of the various functions. You can keep them simple though if you don't mind having to edit the resulting transcriptions.
When using method 1 the source text will (correctly) be recorded in the source itself rather than in the citation.

Thank you. I'll now go away and try out the various options.

Don't forget the Knowledge Base tutorials for AS including Auto Text Templates.

I used the tutorials before starting to use AS. I find 'seeing' rather than reading much easier to learn and understand, so thank you for creating them.

The tutorials are intended to be a hands on 'seeing' approach.
If you use the Family Historian Sample Project as advised, and follow the tutorial steps, you will see what happens with AS and FH.
The point about the Family Historian Sample Project is you can experiment capturing any data in any way without risk to your main project.
Then you can reset the Family Historian Sample Project to a known starting state, and try again.
