Ancestors by Generation

Post by edinoz »

Hi,
When I compile a report of Ancestors by Generation it includes the phrase
He/she experienced General.......and the some piece of information.
I have searched on how to remove this from the printed version, but unable to remove it.
Any and all assistance would be great.
Many thanks

Interesting. I just generated an Ancestors by Generation report and that phrase definitely doesn't appear anywhere.

Looking at my grandmother's Property box and then the text of the generated report, it appears most of the narrative comes from the Fact Sentences (they appear at the bottom of the Property box). Have you checked those to see that they read properly?

What version of FH and on what Operation System? Is everything up-to-date?

A screen capture might also help those more knowledgeable than I am to diagnose the issue.

Hi Teresa,
Thanks for getting back so soon.
My FH ver is 7.22 and I am using Win 10Pro.
Here is a rushed screenshot with the odd comments I hope it makes sense.

I have moved this from the Diagrams & Charts forum to the Reports, Books & Websites forum which is more appropriate.

The explanation for that narrative sentence is that the Fact Type definition for the General Event is missing or needs refining.

Use Tools > Fact Types... and then if possible select the General Event and Edit... so you can correct its Sentence Template.

If General Event is not listed then it has no definition so click Show Hidden.
Then it can be selected and Edit... will allow its definition to be created and the Sentence Template defined.

If you need advice on how to change the Sentence Template to achieve a particular narrative sentence then please ask again.

BTW: Please update the FH Version shown here in your Profile on the right.
Click your username, then User Control Panel and PROFILE.
Set Family Historian to V7 then scroll down to SUBMIT.

Glad to know I was right that it had something to do with the fact sentence, but missed that it was the General Event...

Something I need to keep in mind too.

Yes, {individual} experienced {label} ... is the default Sentence Template for a new custom Event or one without a definition.
