Hello to all, and sorry if this is not the right forum to ask my question here:
When I run this plugin, and if the extra option to tidy places is set, I get a very long (160) list of nearly duplicate place names with very slight differences (a comma or a space) .
I discovered the plugin for duplicate place names, but is there a way there a way to clean up these place names, or merge them In one go ?
Thank you

Gedcom file export plugin - question about tidying place records
I started with Reunion > 30 years ago, later TMG.
I now use FH as main software, TNG to share my data.
Transkribus to decipher old texts.
Genealogica Grafica, TCGB and My Family Tree to view & check my data. And Genopro for its layered reports.

Re: Gedcom file export plugin - question about tidying place records
Sorry Olivier, but bulk merging of Place records is not at all easy to automate.
The automatic process does not know which 'tidy' Place name the merged Place records should have.
In many cases, the two similar Place records may have different subfield values for Lat/Longitude, Media, or Notes so the automatic process would not know which was the preferred Place record or subfield values to keep.
FYI: There are two methods for manually merging Place records:

- Tools > Work with Data > Places... and Merge... button. See the Help page.
You can merge multiple records in one go but can only choose one master record and not subfield values. - Edit > Merge/Compare Records... only supports pairs of records but allows full control over subfield values to be merged.
