Creating Australian Templates

Post by LynU » 16 Jul 2023 01:52

Hi Everyone,

I would like to know if any group members have created Templates for the Australian Electoral Rolls or Census Records and are willing to share them, please.

I am new (an absolute beginner) to Family Historian and Ancestral Sources, and I like what I have seen so far. I have imported my Gedcom File from my Ancestry Family Tree and have started saving my images and documents to my computer to link them to my family members and create the relevant source information. I tested Ancestral Sources with my England Census records, which works wonderfully.
I hope someone can assist me, please. Lyn

Hi Lyn
I use the Essentials collection templates. I clone a copy of the templates, rename it and adjust if required . I use the Census Return template and the Directory/List template for Electoral Rolls, passenger lists etc.

Lyn, I should have also mentioned, you will have to add Australia to the list. Just click on the arrow next to region, then select add new.

Hi Ruth
I think Lyn is asking about Ancestral Sources census templates (which is why she's posted the question into the AS forum), not Family Historian Source Templates. She may well also use source templates in which case your advice may be useful.

Just to clarify: Ancestral Sources comes with census templates for UK, Ireland, America and Canada and hundreds of people use AS to record their source information. AS doesn't have templates for Australia built in but I'd be surprised if someone hasn't created their own Australian Ancestral Sources census/electoral roll templates. If anyone is willing to share those with Lyn then I'm sure she'll be very grateful.

Best wishes

Nick
