Help! I am not sure how I did it!
Within the media files I have included several families coats of arms. Now, when I bring up my wife her family coat of arms is displayed (just below the “Marriage” headding) but this does not happen on other family’s or other coats of arms. If I go to her file and look under Media the image of the coat of arms is NOT shown. So how does FH find it and display it. It would be good to have all the coats of arms for various families shown on their relative page but I cannot see why FH only picks up the one. I must presume I have made a link to the file somewhere….but where and how?
If I go to publish “Group Sheet” it again has the heading “Family of….” Then beneath this is her coat of arms than the marriage details but again, only her coat of arms is shown.

Re: Coat of Arms how did I do it?
Where are you looking when you say “when I bring up my wife her family coat of arms is displayed”? Are you referring to an Individual report?
I wonder if the image is linked to a family record, or even a source record. In the Records window go to the Media tab and find the media record for the coat of arms. Select it by clicking on it, then in the main toolbar use View > Record Links. That will open a small window showing which record the media item is linked to.
Now do the same for one of the other coats of arms media images (which you are not seeing displayed anywhere) and see what record it is linked to, if any. A comparison should shed some light on what is going on.

Hi Lorna
Many thanks but I already have done what you say but please see attached images below.
I am running FH version 6.2 I have various family members and people and have included in their own files under Media, various photos and an image of a Family crest where appropriate. I cannot knowingly remember doing anything specific. I have not elevated the crest to position 1 or anything. When I check the data on the crest it is shown as linked to the individual but either in the individual above the Marriage details (but below the title line) (see Screenshot 1 attached) the crest appears. If I run a Family Report (under Publish tab) the crest is at the top (see attached Screenshot 2).
It actually looks quite nice so when producing a book it is something I would like to do for others but cannot replicate it.
Do you or anyone else have any other ideas please.
(I have tried adding other crests in the same individual file but these do not show. )
Many thanks

Re: Coat of Arms how did I do it?
The caption under the image is "Family of Micheal Henry Minden CRICK and Ann BRYAN". This confirms my suggestion, in my previous post, that the image is linked to a Family record, not to an Individual. It is also confirmed by the fact that it appears at the top of the Family Group Sheet report, and in the Marriage section of an Individual report.
You said "I already have done what you say", but what was the result? When you viewed the record links, are you sure it was linked to an individual? I think you will find it is linked to the Family record of Micheal Henry Minden CRICK and Ann BRYAN.
If you view Michael Henry Minden Crick (is that yourself?) in the Focus window and click the line just below his box, showing his marriage details, this will open the Property Box for the family record. Have a look at the Media tab of that Proprty box and I think you will find the image is linked there.
An alternative way to open the Property box for the family record is to locate and select it in the Families tab of the Records window. (If the Families tab is not visible in the Records window, use Tools > Preferences > Records Window, and under Record Type Display Options set Families to Always Show.)

Re: Coat of Arms how did I do it?
I have moved this thread to the Reports, Books & Websites forum as it is nothing to do with Diagrams & Charts.

Re: Coat of Arms how did I do it?
Thank you Lorna, Most helpful
You are correct (my apologies) when I initially checked links and saw a name I assumed it was to an individual (as I did not recall ever clicking on Family link albeit I did some of this some time ago) however looking more closely I spotted the icon on the left of the line either a head and shoulders silhouette or the red and green boxes which shows it is, as you say, a family link NOT individual. I remain very much an amateur on genealogy and FH so appreciate the help and the Forum. I have also changed preferences as you suggested to now show the families tab so again, many thanks. I will have to have a play around and maybe look at some of the FH Tutorials I found online to see how I can improve reports and books.
What started this is that I have been adding records for some years, keeping it on the PC but various family members have now asked if they could have a hard or pdf copy of "their bit" as a booklet. Having a Family Crest at the top adds a bit of "Zing" so thought if I could do this for each it would be quite nice even if only a generic family name crest.
Also, thanks to your help I have also found that over time i have erroneously added duplicate photos/crests to the media file (with different links from them) so I will need to do some housekeeping!
Again, many thanks
Mike
