I moved over from RM9 and having trouble converting my fact role sentences to FH. How do I go about converting the following sentence.
<%Person% [Thisperson:HeShe] was listed as a [Thisperson:role] in the household of [Thisperson:HisHer] father, [Person]|[Thisperson:HeShe] was listed as a [Thisperson:role] in the household of [Thisperson:HisHer] mother, [Person:Given] [ThisPerson:Surname],>< [Place]>< on the [Date:year] census>.

Re: Help with fact sentence
You will have to help us understand the RM template concepts and the Roles involved.
There seem to be at least two alternative sentence choices separated by a vertical bar | symbol.
One is for the household of the father and one for the household of the mother.
It is not obvious to me how that choice is made.
What do you expect the resulting sentence(s) to say?
Ignoring those choices, this would be a valid FH Sentence Template:
{individual} was listed as a {role name} in the household of {his/her} parent, {principal}, {place} on the {date:YEAR} census.
That would become sentences such as:
John Smith was listed as a son in the household of his parent, Jim Smith, in Newtown, England on the 1901 census.
Jane Smith was listed as a daughter in the household of her parent, Jill Jones, in Newtown, England on the 1911 census.
Note that the mother's name would be the maiden name and would need to be more complex to use her married name.
e.g. {principal} would need to be {%CUR_PRIN.NAME:GIVEN%} {%CUR~WITN>NAME:SURNAME%}
To make a choice between father and mother would need a test using the =Sex(...) function operating on the parent.
e.g. Replace 'parent' with {=Sex(%CUR_PRIN%,"father","mother","parent")}
So a complete witness Sentence Template could be:
{individual} was listed as a {role name} in the household of {his/her} {=Sex(%CUR_PRIN%,"father","mother","parent")}, {%CUR_PRIN.NAME:GIVEN%} {%CUR~WITN>NAME:SURNAME%}, {place} on the {date:YEAR} census.
Most of the codes above are explained in FH Help page Sentence Template Codes. If any are not clear then please ask.

Re: Help with fact sentence
I tried using the help you listed, was a little hard to understand as there are too few examples. Your example greatly helped me to understand what was needed. Thank you.
