Re: Synchronization between two computers
Mike, I reported weird synchronisation behaviour at Unexpected conflicted copy in OneDrive (21004), and have subsequently seen the 'modified by another application' error message occasionally. I only currently have FH installed on a single PC, and I don't open multiple copies of it at the same time.

Mike
I will check that and let you know how I go.

However having multiple instances open on two or more projects is OK - the important thing is that you must NEVER have the same project open twice on the same device or multiple devices.

Re: Synchronization between two computers
Thank you John, you are correct.
I was trying to keep things simple for Philip who has only one Project (apart from the FH Sample Project) and has struggled to get OneDrive working reliably.

Re: Synchronization between two computers
Hi Mike
I am still having problems - I am at a stage where I wonder if it is worth syncing and only operating the program on one computer. If I decide not to Sync to I need to uninstall FH7 on the computer I will not be using?
I am being very conscience of opening FH more than once on a device while ensuring that the program is not opened on the other device.
Currently I am working on the laptop and still getting that Dialogue Box opening.

Re: Synchronization between two computers
Are you also taking care to wait for OneDrive to finish syncing before opening FH?
Is the desktop switched off or still running when you get the 'modified by another application' error message?
What background processes might you have running all the time?
e.g. Automatic backup, Anti-Virus package, etc.

Re: Synchronization between two computers
Currently I am working on the Desktop and ensure that OneDrive has completed the Sync. When I was getting the "Modified...…"dialogue box the other computer was turned off. I only seem to get that dialogue box on the laptop.
I use the Trend Micro Security Software on both computers. The only other program that could have been opened at the time were web based applications.
When I open FH on the Desktop and hover over the icon on the Task Bar FH comes up as being open once. When I do the same on the Laptop there are two FH pages displayed - both the same. I did notice earlier today on the laptop, after entering data that one page was not update. It is as you said previously it is like the program is open twice.
To confirm I have just opened the program on the Desktop and confirm that FH is only open once. The Project Window indicate that I only have the Sample Tree project and the Reiflan Tree Project. No data was entered into FH.
FH was closed down on the Desktop and opened on the Laptop where the program looks like it is open twice. The Project Window indicate that I only have the Sample Tree project and the Reiflan Tree Project. No data was entered into FH.
Should I reinstall FH on the Laptop?

Re: Synchronization between two computers
Exactly how are you opening FH on the Laptop?
What are you clicking and is it a single click or a double click?
It does sound as if two instances of FH are being opened and that would cause the error message as discussed earlier.
For the time being, close one of the FH instances and just work with the other. Does that stop the error messages?

Re: Synchronization between two computers
I think that when I installed FH onto the laptop I may have done it twice!!
FH has been uninstalled on the Laptop - I am doing a restart then re-installing FH.
I will let you know how it goes.

Mike
I have re-installed the program on the Laptop and the indication is that it is only there once.
I will let you know how it goes over the next couple of days.
