Citation Pane Check Box under Source Rec

Post by TinaS » 09 May 2023 21:40

Hi, New user here, this may be a silly question but I cannot find anything in the help or forums so here goes...

What is the check box for in the citation pane under Source Rec -

I was looking for a way of flagging the citations to indicate that I need to check them - I am in the process of sorting through my data after importing from another genealogy program (GRAMPs)

Cheers!

Welcome to the FHUG Tina.

That box is not a check box. It is an expansion box and there are similar boxes elsewhere.
Click the box and the Source Record subfields are displayed.

A technique that can be used to track progress is to use Named Lists.
You could put all Source Records in a Named List and then remove them one by one as each is reviewed.
Many users put all Individual Records in a Named List then review and remove each person in turn.
See FHUG > Knowledge Base > Named Lists and if anything is not clear then ask again.

You are advised to check the FHUG > Knowledge Base > FAQS.

Thank you for this. I had not realised that clicking the box expanded things differently from the + symbol the other side! Makes sense now :)

Regarding Named Lists, yes that is a good idea - I have already made a couple of those for other purposes for individuals, so I will look into it for this too. For the individuals I found it easier to add a flag "verified" that I can use once I have worked through their facts/sources to easily visualise that they have been checked/updated.

Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated :)
