Punctuation issue

Post by BakerJL75 » 14 Feb 2023 17:30

I have a baptism sentence I'd like to read as "Peter Hankinson, son of Vinus Hankinson and Alice Eden was baptized .....

My template is
{%CUR_PRIN.NAME:FULL%}, <{=Parentage(%CUR_PRIN%)},> was baptized...

But it prints as:
Peter Hankinson son of Vinus Hankinson and Alice Eden was baptized.... No commas either in the fact box or the individual report.

Is there a way to get the commas? I tried extra angle brackets but that didn't help either. <{%CUR_PRIN.NAME:FULL%}, <{=Parentage(%CUR_PRIN%)},>>was baptized...
Thanks,
Jackie

Jackie, exactly where are you looking?

When you say 'template' I guess you mean the Sentence Template.
In that case, it only affects the Sentence box at the bottom of the Facts tab for the Baptism event, and in any of the Narrative Reports.

I've tried that template by a copy & paste from your posting and it works for me in the Sentence box and Narrative Reports.

Perhaps you are talking about the top pane of the Facts tab, which is governed by a different template.

Individual Summary Report descriptions of Facts cannot be customised by any templates.

I'm talking about in an individual report and here:

I'm heading out the door shortly, but I made a new fact that was fine. So maybe something else is going on. I'll work on it some more later and get back to you.
Thanks,
Jackie

That Sentence box has a white background which means you have customised that specific sentence template for that specific Baptism fact. To use the Tools > Fact Types... definition of the Baptism Sentence Template, click the black triangle to the right of the Sentence box and choose Reset Sentence. The background will turn beige and the sentence will have its comma both in the Facts tab and in the Narrative Report.

That is explained in FHUG Knowledge Base Narrative Report Fact Sentence Templates under Specific Fact Sentences which gives an alternative way of resetting the sentence template.

That was it. And I should have known. I'd been playing with that sentence.

Thank you!
