Where to record a blind person

Post by PeterWieland » 26 Nov 2022 11:44

I have a person recorded as blind on a census. Where in FH can I record this?

I use Ancestral Sources to record census returns, but I missed this fact off when I originally entered it. I now want to add it in, but can't see anywhere logical to put it!

Would the 'Physical Description' fact work for you?

When you say you "missed this fact off when I originally entered it" do you mean you forgot to enter it in the Census Grid as a disability or you did not create a Fact for the person being blind?

AS can automatically create a Physical Description fact for anything entered in the 'Disability' or 'Deaf-and-Dumb, Blind, Lunatic' cell, but requires the appropriate Tools > Option to be ticked.

I didn't enter it in the census grid; I didn't scroll to the edge of the image and missed the disability column. I do usually check that column, but just didn't this time.

I suppose I could have asked the question slightly differently, as 'where does AS record disabilities?'

As AS records under Physical Description, then that's good enough for me!

Thanks everyone
