Error with v7.6.3 under Crossover on Mac
Nick
I have v7.6.3 up and running on Crossover on a Mac. Yesterday it was working fine with the same Gedcom. Today I am getting the below error. I have the debug details saved if they help.

Hi Colin
Thanks for letting me know. Please can you email the debug info to me (nick @ ancestralsources dot com)?
Thanks

Re: Error with v7.6.3 under Crossover on Mac
Hi Nick, every once in a while I get a similar error on windows.
It Only happens if I am in the census convert window, and AS thinks that FH has been updated, I get the error when AS tries to reload the file.
I will email the debug info next time it happens.
As an aside the census convert window goes through periods when it does no remain on top. I have to minimise the main AS window to get it back.
Finally the * has disappeared from the chosen name column.

I just downloaded v7.5.7 and get the same error message as above on 64 bit PC running Windows 10. Please advise.

Sorry about that. This is actually a different error to the one being discussed in this thread. I've removed the error details from your post but made a note of them for my own reference.
Can you try the 7.6.3 test build that is discussed in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=21141

Thanks, Nick. I downloaded v 7.6.3 and opened it a few times, including from within fh7. The error message did not display.

Re: Error with v7.6.3 under Crossover on Mac
Sorry about that John. I can repeat similar issues if there is an error when AS tries to save the file after a conversion - it wouldn't show you the error and then AS would be left in an unexpected state. Hopefully this will be handled better in the next version.johnmorrisoniom wrote: ↑21 Nov 2022 17:24Hi Nick, every once in a while I get a similar error on windows.

Re: Error with v7.6.3 under Crossover on Mac
Thanks for sending the debug details through. It's an odd error referring to the little tool tip that appears if you point the mouse at an item in the list boxes on the right side of the main screen when it isn't wide enough to display the text. I can only imagine this is something to do with Crossover but in the next version I've trapped the error so at least you shouldn't see it.
Cheers

Unfortunately no luck with v7.6.4. Clicking continue just brings up the same error when you try to access an individual.

That's annoying - I've made a note of the error, thanks. I'll probably correspond with you via email about this one, assuming that's OK.
Cheers

Just to confirm the issue, I've also seen that error message when attempting to use AS in Wine/Crossover, but have not, so far, been able to tie it to any specific input event/action.
I mostly use AS from a Windows Virtual Machine, which doesn't display the issue; and also allows the use of RTF tables/features which, in my experience, either trigger similar error messages and/or result in facts not to be saved to Family Historian when used via a Wine/Crossover installation unless the use of RTF output is avoided.
