Downloading Plugins from FHUG Forum

Post by cwhermann » 21 Jul 2022 03:37

There are a number of useful plugins in the forum that are not in the plugin store that I would like to download and I want to make sure the plugin ends up in the correct file. When I click on the link of a plugin icon in a post, I get the pop up window to save in my Windows Downloads file. What file should it be located in so it gets backed up when I run the Backup and Restore Family Historian Setting via Windows plugin?

Once you've downloaded it (anywhere convenient for you), you then open the file which installs the plugin in FH in the usual location for plugins, and it is picked up by the plugin.

Or you can download it to C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Plugins but you might hit permissions problems.

Thanks Helen,
I try to keep my download file “cleaned out” on a regular basis so it sounds like the plug-in download is similar to an “.exe” file once it has been installed in FH, the program has stored the the files it needs and I can delete the download install file.
