Good morning from chilly Melbourne
Quick questions about queries (and not the end of the world if it can't be done)
I have based a query on the missing census query to produce a list of people and whether they have a specific source for birth or death entries. Works quite well with one exception. The birth event can have multiple sources such as censuses but I am only concerned if the birth register is missing. Is there a way of having one row per person and only saying Yes if one of the sources is a birth register? Not sure if I cam do a query on a query? Hope it's clear. The aim of this query is to help identify who I need to look for particular records.

Re: Queries - missing sources for BMD
I've been having another look today and for some reason the duplicate line I thought there was, is no longer there. It seems that my column/expression looks at the first source listed. So it looks for the query to do what I can do I need to ensure that any birth register sources are the first source listed for that event. Is there an easy way to move all the birth register sources to the first listed? (I don't want much really
)

You can manually move sources - see the little arrows on the right?
Doing it as a bulk operation will be a pain - and is probably plug-in time! But if whenever you add a source you consider where you think it should rank as support for a particular fact and move it to reflect that rank, it just becomes part of your work flow.
That may be a partial help to what you are trying to do
Alternatively have you checked out the plug-in store? There may be something that "almost" does what you want and you could then discuss how it could be amended - either code yourself or hope the originator can produce (and has time to produce) a version that does what you want.

Yes I suspect I need to include it in my workflow. It crossed my mind a while ago and now I'm reaping the cost if not doing it.
I have checked the plugin store but not recently. Though my laptop may have died so will have to wait! So annoying when I was on a roll!

Re: Queries - missing sources for BMD
Try the Lookup Missing BMD Records plugin from the Plugin Store, which avoids the Query stage altogether.
That not only identifies people with missing records but provides search terms for popular online records.
See its Help & Advice pages for details of how it decides a BMD record is missing.
I think it copes quite well with your database even though the BMD citation may not be the 1st citation.
However, it works best with BMD citations as the 1st citations.

Thanks Mike. I forgot about that plugin. Though I'm focusing on the french side of things so not sure how useful for that half of the tree will be. My laptop has survived so will try it tonight and see what it looks like.
