Thank you for accepting me to your group

I have been researching family history and geography for a long time, it looks like Family historian might help me move a rather large database forward where my previous software has really let me down.

Thank you for accepting me, after some skimming I find a wealth of knowledge and guidance in these pages, I am not a programmer and some things look a little complicated so there will be questions while I attempt to get the best out of your program.

Thank you for accepting me.

Welcome Sophie. Have you found our KnowledgeBase yet?

For convenience, when you search using the search window top right within the Forums, you will be searching: the Forums and the Knowledgebase (including an online copy of the FH Help File).

Hi Sophie.
What is your previous software?
The FHUG Knowledge Base that Helen mentioned has an Importing to Family Historian guide with advice for many products.

Thank you both, I am like willy wonka in the chocolate factory at present, I am following lots of links and have found the knowledgebase, it's like finding a new library.

I come from Rootsmagic, I have no idea what is happening there but I do know they scrapped a wealth of online forum knowledge in preference to Facebook where I can find little unless I copied it so this structured platform is very welcome.

I need to start with baby steps, read, learn and watch videos but there will be questions once I settle into FH.

It was a smart move by CP (the authors of FH) to develop a comprehensive import of RM data, as even before that refinement it attracted a lot of customers from RM who didn’t like the way that product was going. There will be plenty of people here who know both products so will be happy to help you along the way...
