Source Clipboard

Post by joanchop » 28 Jan 2022 15:13

Hi
Just getting back into FH7 after quite a few months off. I use the clipboard quite often and wondered if there is a way to have the clipboard floating so that you could choose to paste a source/citation that you had previously copied? Also as a reminder of what was the last source/citation you copied?
I did have a look but couldn't find anything in the knowledge base.
Many thanks

The FH Source Clipboard only has one entry and cannot float.
Its setting does not survive closing and opening FH.

Just to add to Miketate’s answer, FH has at least 2 clipboards, one for sources and another for facts.

Enter a fact, then enter its source.
Copy source to the clipboard and copy fact to the clipboard. You can then paste either as you wish.
NB When pasting the fact, it pastes the accompanying source as well.

I use this to great effect when entering census and occupation information to other members of the same household.

Another possible option if you want to keep a single citation in FH7 is to paste it into the Prepared citation which does survive a shutdown and can easily be viewed.
