Source Templates for a Lumper
I'm a lumper when it comes to census, birth and death certificates or ancestry databases. I want to use the new templates in FH7, but they want to have the person of interest in the source. I tried modifying the template for Vital Records to move the entries I need down to citation section but I keep getting that person of interest can't be added to citation error message. Am I doing something wrong or just stay with the free style format? The specific error is citation entry cannot be part of title.

Re: Source Templates for a Lumper
It might be better to start with the Essentials > Civil > Civil Registration Certificate/Index templates.
The Index version is a 'lumper' format and may give some clues to how to convert the Certificate version.
I presume you are using the Tools > Source Template Definitions... command to access the template editor.
I suggest you Clone... the standard template(s) into a Custom collection of your own as the standard ones may get reset by a future installation of FH V7.
Use the Help button in that dialogue to get advice on using the process.
If you already have a great many existing Generic Source Citations what are you planning to do with those?
The Templated Source Citations will have a significantly different format and do not export in the same way to other products.
See FHUG KB Sources and Citations in Version 7 (for Upgraders) which may give you some ideas to consider.

Thank you for the reply. Figured out what I was doing wrong, I was going by how sources were used in another program. I have a small database as I was doing a do over, so I will be converting my free style sources over to templates. Though I'm still kind of confused by the difference of Source Series and Source type in the templates. Looks like Series would be like Death Certificates and type would be digital, original etc. If that is the case, I'll need to change footnotes to display right.

I think the Source Series and Source Type are Advanced template characteristics that I'm not familiar with.
What is unsuitable about the Essential templates I suggested?

I got vital records template to do what I wanted once I figured out what I was doing wrong. Got everything working great now. I did look at your suggestion but decided to go with the vital records template, but thanks for the showing me where to look.

Did you clone a copy, because if not the next time FH V7 is updated/installed it will probably get reset.
