* [RESOLVED] Blank section in narrative report
[RESOLVED] Blank section in narrative report
I have upgraded to Family Historian 7. I am a regular user and have encountered no difficulties so far, but this morning I was trying, on a particular project, to publish a narrative ancestor report, only to encounter about 73 pages of blank report (apart from the header) - the first couple of generations appeared, as did a final section of the report. The index only included the entries that appeared on the printed pages, but nothing in the intermediate blank sections. When I tried to save it as a pdf the pdf was completely blank, with no printed pages at all.
Has any other user encountered this problem or been able to resolve it?

Re: Blank section in narrative report
Have you upgraded to the latest version of V7 (7.0.3)? It should be offered as an upgrade if you check for updates. There were printing problems in previous versions, including one caused by a Microsoft update, but as far as I know they're fixed in 7.0.3
P.S. it would be helpful if you updated your profile to say you're using FH. (Clock on your name top right, then Profile, then edit profile).

Thanks for that - upgrade installed and no more problems. Excellent!
Re: Blank section in narrative report
Well that was until I ticked the box to include "record notes", then exactly the same thing happened as before. Any bright ideas? Clearly something to do with adding in the notes ...

Well, that's new -- or at least I haven't seen it reported before. Others will no doubt be along to suggest things to try, but if it's reproducible (report without notes is OK, report with notes is not), I suggest you report it to Calico Pie: http://support.calico-pie.com/open.php with as much information as you can provide.

Re: Blank section in narrative report
Could you possibly investigate the problem a bit further which might give a better idea of the cause.
Are the blank pages located where some Record Notes would get added?
Can you identify the Individual associated with the blank pages &/or Record Notes?
Open the Property Box of that Individual or any others included near where the blank pages appear.
Inspect their Note: box on the Main tab.
Double-click it or click the [...] button on the right to open the Rich Text Note window.
Does it contain anything that might cause blank pages such as lots of blank lines or unusual control characters?
Have these Individual records existed in your Project for a long time or were they recent imports from another product?
Might these 'problem' notes come from that product?

Re: Blank section in narrative report
Problem resolved, thank you to everyone. On close inspection there just seemed to be lots of pages of blank report at the end of the notes of one individual, then the report carried on straight from there at the end, with just the big gap in the middle. Checking the notes for that individual I spotted that there was a huge blank section of notes at the end of the written notes - how it got there I've no idea - but I deleted the blank section and the report then worked fine. Presumably user error somewhere. Thanks again.

Good news. I'll mark this resolved and lock it if that's OK?
