OCR text on clipboard

Post by JoopvB » 05 Mar 2021 10:58

A lot of text input is in (or can be changed to) the form of a .jpg and it would be nice to have the plugin's that I use to convert the text on the .jpg to readable text to make it usable.

I've been looking into Tesseract as one of the most versatile and free options, but have no idea how to make use of it from within my plugin. My first approach would be to build a plugin with only one goal: read the clipboard and OCR the text on it.

Has anybody done or tried it before? Can it be done from within Lua?

I've not tried it before -- I'd explore fhShellExecute as a way of invoking Tesseract.
