TMG witness import

Post by Jim Byram » 10 Feb 2021 21:33

FH v7.0.2.0

I created a simple test in TMG. For each witness to a census event, I added a note for each witness.

The census event has a note. The witnesses and witness notes were imported and show in the Witnesses window. All have the role "Witness".

The import created a local sentence for each witness. A {note} variable was added to the sentences for the first two witnesses. A data reference {%WITNESS.NOTE%} was added to the sentence for the third witness.

I output this to a narrative report. The {note] variable in the first two sentences results in the Fact note being output. The {%WITNESS.NOTE%} in the third sentence resulted in "{%WITNESS.NOTE%}" being output literally.

What should work to output the witness note? Is "{%WITNESS.NOTE%}" correct and that it doesn't work a bug?

Jim, please try {%CUR~WITN.NOTE2%} as explained in the Help.

In Tools > Fact Types... select the Census event and Edit... button.
Then against the Sentence Template click << Insert Code > How to use advanced features to get the Help page.
Scroll down to How to Add Data References or Functions to Sentence Templates where it gives the example I posted above.

Alternatively, in Search Help... enter Sentence Template Codes to get to same Help page.
You could add that page to your Help Favourites.

Thanks, MIke.

Your fix and an additional '.' did the job

I did peruse the sentence template help page but didn't go far enough down. My bad.

So I have three issues to report to CP for the TMG import.

Where did you need an additional dot?
{%CUR~WITN.NOTE2%} already has the only dot needed.

Just as a matter of interest, what are those three issues?
