I seem to have a second NAME.fh_datafolder within my file folders.
The first instance is ;
FAMILY HISTORIAN PROJECTS>NAME>NAME.fh_data - as I would expect
and the second is ;
FAMILY HISTORIAN PROJECTS>NAME.fh_data
All the files are virtually identical except a couple of files show different "date modified". I have just saved the project following a minor change and FAMILY HISTORIAN PROJECTS>NAME>NAME.fh_data alone has been modified.
I was about to delete the second folder (after making a copy of that folder, just in case!) but then wondered if I am missing something here. Am I right in assuming the duplication is an aberration and not a subtle design feature? So I thought " ask the gurus". May I ask for some input please.

Re: File Folders within project duplicated?
Yes, very wise.
I assume that your NAME project is operating completely satisfactorily.
The Family Historian Projects > NAME.fh_data has somehow got accidentally copied from the genuine NAME.fh_data folder.
It is all too easy to do in Windows File Explorer.
I suspect any file dates in that rogue folder are the same as or earlier than in the genuine folder.
That rogue folder is an aberration and nothing to do with Family Historian, so can be safely removed.

Re: File Folders within project duplicated?
Thanks Mike.
I was just being perhaps over cautious. Yes, my project is working fine.
However, this has raised another query in that I was unable to identify exactly which folder was being used by the project. In the "More Tasks" menu neither the "Browse for.." nor "Project List.." actually say which is being used! How do I identify it please?

Re: File Folders within project duplicated?
The FHUG Knowledge Base has Understanding Projects that gives the Project Structure.
The starting point is always the Location: shown in the Project Window which in your case is the default Family Historian Projects and the More Tasks... > Project List options are all associated with that.
The More Tasks... > Browse lets you look for Project folders that may be held elsewhere.
Click Help and then see Features ofthe Project Window for full details.
A Project uses more than just one folder. It requires a folder structure starting with the NAME folder in your example.
That holds the NAME.fh_proj FH Project File, the Public folder, and the NAME.fh_data folder.
The NAME.fh_data folder holds the NAME.ged GEDCOM file and several folders used by various features but most significantly the Media folder where all the media files are normally held.
If any of that structure is upset then the Project may not behave satisfactorily if at all.

Re: File Folders within project duplicated?
Thanks Mike. However, I recognise where the file should be etc., but having realised that I had a duplicate, I wanted to confirm from within FH which file was actually being accessed. I suspect that is not possible and my assumption that "the file in the correct location was being used" was the only way.
Anyway, hopefully I shan't need that facility again!
