Hi
I'm currently running FH 6.2.7 I also have current active membership to Find My Past.
I have the following problem in that I have the little circle below the persons name say that there are hints but when I click it i get the following error message:
"Unable to download hints-uni/from www.findmypast.co.uk.
Unable to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. "
I can open Find My Past using my web browser.
I've had issues connecting in the past but this is new one to me.
Many thanks in advance for any help of advice

Re: Find My Past Hints
Welcome to the FHUG.
The FMP 'hints' use a special program interface (API) that is different from the manual browser interface.
So it may be that the API servers are temporarily unavailable, but the FMP 'hints' are working OK for me here.
Try using the Internet > Search the Internet command and select Find My Past and Go To Site.
If that also fails, then there may be a problem with the Web Search Window browser engine which is Internet Explorer.
Conversely, try setting Internet > Internet Data Matches ~ Location to Display Matches to External Web Browser.
Does that always work?
See how_to:internet_data_matches|> Internet Data Matches for general advice and how to reset the Internet Explorer Shell.

Thanks for your help and ideas.
It’s still not wonderful, if it works it’s slow otherwise I get the oops message. But now rarely getting the message that it cannot find FMP. But copying the link into Chrome is really working for me. It’s the fastest the hits have ever displayed.

Re: Find My Past Hints
If I understand correctly, it is working perfectly with the Location to Display Matches set to External Web Browser which therefore always uses your Google Chrome default browser.
But the internal FH Web Search Window mode is still problematic, slow, and unreliable.
What Windows version are you running ( 10 , 8.1 , 7 )?
Have you customised Internet Explorer at all?
Did you follow the advice to check Internet Explorer Version 11 is installed and use its cog menu Tools > Internet options > Advanced > Reset, and also to run the Write Reg IE Shell Version Plugin and check Version 11 is enabled?
Those usually get the internal FH Web Search Window working much better and is needed for other features.
