Witnesses etc

Post by wigansaint » 10 May 2020 20:21

When I enter information via AS into FH V6 for a marriage I have the option to say if the witnesses are an
individual in the file or just an individual (not in file). This also applies to godparents (Baptism) if I mark them as not in file and subsequently add them to the file how do I associate them with the corresponding record. Also if in the case of marriage witnesses if one is in the file and another is not how would these be recorded?

Dealing with your last question first, you can change the Individual in file and the Just a name - not in file option for each associated person that you add one by one.

If at the time of entering the data into AS you know the person needs to be added to FH, then use Edit > New unrelated individual or Add New Parent/Spouse/Sibling/Child command in AS. Then you can use the Individual in file option. Later in FH you can add more details to the new person.

Otherwise, later in FH right-click the fact and choose Witnesses to list all the Fact Witnesses.
Select the Name Only witness and click Delete button on the right to remove them.
Then use the Add > Add Individuals(s) option to select the replacement Individual record and set the Role.
