It is not easy and generally not advisable to use HTML pages directly as Source media.
Online web pages like that have a habit of moving or disappearing altogether.
Also, such Sources will not be displayed in published Reports.

What do you mean by We have an HTML file from a web page ?
Exactly what have you got? Have you used the browser Save a web page option?

If you have saved a web page that had an image, then the saved folder should contain an image file.

You need to convert the page into text &/or an image file that can be viewed locally in FH.
Usually, if you right-click an image in an online page you have options to View, Copy or Save the image.
If there is no way it can be downloaded then use the Windows Snip & Sketch tool or the old Snipping Tool to capture a screenshot of the web page.

If you really, really, need to create a hyperlink shortcut then use the Add Media URL Shortcut Plugin.

You can try doing a right click and see what the menu shows. If the list includes taking a screen shot use the curor to cover the area of the shot you want then prompt copy and open it on a photo software.
I do this all the time including FreeBMD details on ancestry and post the image as a media file in say the birth details of a person.

@victor ~ I have only found that right-click Take a Screenshot option in Firefox (not in Chrome or Edge or IE).
Whereas all browsers have right-click Copy or Save image/picture or similar, when hovering over an image, and they usually result in a better resolution than a screenshot.
I am surprised you need that Take a Screenshot technique in FreeBMD as it offers image download options, or are you talking about capturing an image of text?
The Windows Snip & Sketch or Snipping Tool are always available for anything shown on screen.

It is not clear how the newspaper article is presented online and what format it uses, but the URL will clarify that.

Yes, you find lots of webpages but most don't show the actual newspaper page, just transcripts.
I searched in Google for Cambodia Mirror September 1979 and followed the link for Images for Cambodia Mirror September 1979 then used the right-click Save Image As to capture the JPG as shown below

You are right. It depends on what he wants.
The ones with text that I found were not original newspaper pages but simply textual transcripts.
So I'd include the URL in the Source somewhere (Note ?) and copy & paste the text into Text From Source as a transcript.
The original newspaper publication details should go in Publication Info.
OR you could make use of Repository which actually has a Website URL box.
So you never actually link directly to an HTML file at all.

Could you not print the web page to a PDF?

Yes, various options are possible, but depend on what John wants.
The drawback of a PDF is it cannot be printed in FH Reports.
