Custom Text Scheme

Post by raywigz »

I have created a custom text scheme to give me a descendant chart showing the items that are wanted, plus background and box style etc. Everything is how I want it apart from the persons name.
Is there a way to show just the name element in each box in a different colour, or bold font? Maybe even in a slightly larger or different font size?
Preferably for the whole diagram not individually box by box.

In the Edit Text Scheme dialog you will see that there is an Initial Font, which is what will be used at the start. The Name is normally the first item so if you want that to be larger, bolder or more colourful than the rest you should change the Initial Font by clicking the Select button at the right of the field. You will see that you can also include an option to Allow Colour Override, which enables you to use the diagram box options to make colour adjustments depending on box types (for example different colour text for males and females).

To make the rest of the text smaller or different in other ways, you need to insert a font change item. Select <Font change (style, text colour etc)> from near the top of the list of available items in the left hand panel and set the new font, then click > to add it to the list on the right, where it will appear at the end of the list. Now use the 'up' arrow to move it to just below the Name item in the list. The new font will apply to everything which comes after it, unless and until another font change is reached.

For an example of what Lorna has described perfectly, see the default Birth, Marr, Death Text Scheme and click Edit.
The Edit Text Scheme dialogue shows Initial Font: at top and <font = Arial, 8 pt; text colour is Black> in Used Items that can be added from Avaliable Items with Font Change item.
