Marriage Type

Post by vyh3 » 08 Apr 2020 15:00

I am new to Family Historian and even newer to Ancestral Sources so forgive me if this is a question with an obvious answer - if it is I can't find it :?

When entering a marriage in Ancestral Sources there's a drop down box for Marriage Type (after Banns etc. ). I can see that this is used to generate the autotext for the source but is it stored anywhere in the Family Historian database as a separate attribute or something similar?

It is only used for the AutoText.

FYI: The AS Help has quite good explanations for all its fields.
In this case for Marriage Sources ~ Main Screen ~ Marriage Records scroll a way down and it says:
Marriage Type (Main Info Tab)
If specified in the marriage record, choose a marriage type such as 'by licence' or 'after banns' from the list, or type in a different marriage type. If an auto-text template that includes the {MARRIAGETYPE} keyword is not being used then there is no reason to fill this in.
So if not included in the Auto-text it goes nowhere.

Have you seen the ancestralsources:index#user_guide|> Ancestral Sources > User Guide tutorials?

Thanks both. I suspected that was the case but wanted to be sure.
